System Work Groups Update and Surveys

QualtircsWe Want to
Hear from You!

DALNET System Work Groups have worked with the DALNET Office to create online surveys for selecting and ranking importance of criteria for selecting a new system.  The surveys, each covering a work area within the system, such as circulation, cataloging, and acquisitions, will be distributed this month and available to staff members at DALNET institutions.  The DALNET office will be scheduling site visits to institutions that would like assistance with helping staff members to fill out the survey, and to give an overview of the process for selecting a new system, which the work groups are currently participating in.  The DALNET office will also work with institutions that need access to the surveys after July.  Once surveys are completed, the DALNET office will work with the system work groups to analyze the results, which will be presented in a final report to the DALNET Board of Directors in November.

Of Note
The State of Reference Collections

This article by Elisabeth Leonard explores how the definition of reference is changing, in part because reference resources now look and feel like other information sources and because other information resources perform the traditional purpose of reference - answering research questions.
