  DECEMBER 2013 / January 2014

Give us your input.  Join a work group!

The DALNET Board has adopted a strategic focus that has established an annual call to committees. For 2014, the Board of Directors will form work groups to review the strengths and weaknesses of the current system, including potential future needs of each area of library services. To volunteer for one (or more) work groups, please fill out this survey.  Work will begin in the new year.

HIP Format Icons

Format Icons

DALNET Office personnel have added the Enterprise/Portfolio format icons to member HIP catalogs.  Over a dozen typical format icons have been added to each of the DALNET catalogs.  If you don't see an icon for your favorite material type configured yet, let us know and we'll see if we can add it.  If you have not already noticed the new icons, take a look in your catalog or see a sample here.

Library Systems Overview

The DALNET office has once again produced an overview of library systems that are in release or development.  Systems are continuing to move toward unified platforms to manage all aspects of library resource management, discovery, and delivery services.

Also of note, DALNET shared system members can look forward to the release of an all-new Horizon Web-based Cataloging "Lite" module in 2014, with circulation and other modules to follow.

Thanks to All DALNET Committee Volunteers

On behalf of the DALNET Consortium, we would like to thank all volunteers who served on DALNET committees during the 2013 fiscal year.  Your contributions are appreciated and your individual efforts are essential to accomplishing the work of the consortium.  Your continuing support and assistance allows us to build an even better DALNET for the benefit of all members.  Thank you again for your fine service.  Letters of thanks will be mailed to individual volunteers during the month of December.
