The
Peacock Room
Wayne State University
The Story of the Beautiful connects virtual tours of the Peacock Room
to places and faces associated with its dynamic, cosmopolitan history,
from its controversial creation in Victorian London by the expatriate
American artist James McNeill Whistler (1834-1903) to its subsequent
use as an aesthetic laboratory in Detroit by the Gilded Age collector
and industrialist Charles Lang Freer (1854-1919).

DALNET
Help Desk Footprints Enhancements
A few new changes have been made to the DALNET help desk to make the
system better. Project manager accounts have been updated to
auto-fill contact information when creating a new issue.
A WYSIWYG ("What you see is what you get")
editor has been enabled so users can change font colors, add
or embed images
such as screenshots directly in the editor via cut and
paste, and more. Also, to accommodate any
cases opened for the new Enterprise catalog, a new
category "Discovery" has been added to the Footprints help desk.
Don't forget, the easiest way to open or update an issue is
to email helpdesk@dalnet.org
or dalnet@wayne.edu.
Enterprise
Is On Its Way
"This is very cool!
I’m very excited about the look
and the dynamics of the new system."
Members have begun testing their Enterprise discovery catalog
installations, requesting
color changes and other tweaks, and sending the office their comments.
Enterprise training will take place on Monday, March 18,
2013 in Lab C of WSU's Undergraduate Library. Participants
will learn how to access their local administration pages, and will
have time to create local content "Rooms."
Workforms will be distributed in early March and
should be
completed before the training day. Members may go "live" with
their catalogs at any time after the scheduled training.
DIA Bulletins now
in JSTOR
Detroit Institute of Arts bulletins (1919 - 2009) are now fully indexed
and full-text searchable in JSTOR, with a three year moving wall as
part of the Arts and Sciences XI collection. The DIA Research
Library and Archives is willing to print needed articles for patrons of
DALNET member libraries if they do not have access.
The Publications can be browsed here:
