DALNET at the
2012 MLA Conference
The Michigan Library
Association Annual Conference
will take place November
7-9, 2012 in Detroit. Kristy
Eklund and Cathy Wolford will be
presenting
a session at the conference titled
"60 Apps in 60 Minutes."
Their program is
scheduled for Thursday, November
8th from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
DALNET
will also have an exhibitor's
booth in the Exhibit Hall.

Steven
K. Bowers and Jing Jing Wu presented a
session titled "Florence
& The Machine: Data Extraction
& Auto Record Creation" at the
OCLC-sponsored
Innovation in Libraries 2012 LITA
Forum post-conference. They discussed
automated
creation of MARC records for the
popular TED Talks video series and web
scale
creation of metadata for online
resources that provide organized open
access
to unique digital library
collections. Working with the
machine,
"Florence," the librarian, still plays
a future role in organizing

Wells and
Eklund Wed, Honeymoon in California
Kristy Wells, DALNET Office Manager
and Systems Assistant, married Nick
Eklund,
a HelpDesk Support Technician at
CareTech Solutions, on Saturday,
October
6, 2012. The couple traveled to
San Diego, California for
