DALNET Board Defines Strategic Focus

At their meeting in November the DALNET Board of Directors reviewed the DALNET Annual Report (available online) and then looked to the future.  The Board participated in an activity to define the future of DALNET, defining five areas of strategic focus including Board Leadership, Membership Engagement, Fiduciary Responsibility, Technological Infrastructure, and Value Added Programming.  A complete copy of the new DALNET Strategic Focus document can be viewed online:

DALNET Reciprocal Borrowing to Expand

As part of their strategic planning, the DALNET Board of Directors approved moving forward with reciprocal borrowing through member catalogs.  At those libraries that wish to participate, patrons will be able to request materials from other participating DALNET libraries within HIP, using the local Horizon system.  Materials will be sent via the RIDES delivery system.  Work groups will be established for developing policies and procedures as the project gets underway.  More information to come.

DALNET eLibrary Relaunched

Visit DALNET eLibrary

The DALNET eLibrary has been given a new home online.  In addition to the new interface, a new mobile version of the site has been created.  The DALNET eLibrary contains over 3000 items in 17 growing collections.  DALNET libraries may now choose which of each of the collections they would like as limits in their catalogs or they can simply provide a link to the entire DALNET eLibrary.  For more information contact the DALNET office.

Thanks to All DALNET Committee Volunteers

On behalf of the DALNET Consortium, we would like to thank all volunteers who served on DALNET committees during the 2011 fiscal year.  Your contributions are appreciated and your individual efforts are essential to accomplishing the work of the consortium.  Your continuing support and assistance allows us to build an even better DALNET for the benefit of all members.  Thank you again for your fine service.  Letters of thanks will be mailed to individual volunteers during the month of December.
