Board Approves DALNET
Digital
Archive Repository
The DALNET Board has approved a Program Initiative Reserve grant
application to fund a new DALNET Digital Archive Repository. The
grant, awarded to Adam Cardinal
Maida Alumni Library, Detroit Medical Center, Marygrove College, and
Oakland Community College, will provide funding for a new DSpace
open-source software installation to be hosted at the University of
Detroit Mercy.

Margaret
Auer Honored
This year Margaret E. Auer, Dean of
University Libraries/Instructional Design Studio at University of
Detroit Mercy, is celebrating her 50th year as an employee of the
University of Detroit Mercy and her 30th year as Dean/Director of the
University Libraries. A celebration honoring Auer and her
achievements was held at UDM on August
25, 2011. DALNET would also like to say
a big "Thank you!" to Margaret for her service on the DALNET
Board for over 20 years. Congratulations Margaret!
Shared Systems Update
New Features
Survey: A member survey is available this month to
determine interest in implementing specific new Horizon features for
each institution.
The survey includes questions covering features such as pre-overdue
notices, e-mail notices, and new circulation parameters. Project
Managers are asked to complete the survey no later than Thursday,
September 15, 2011. The survey may be accessed here:

Mobile Apps for Catalog:
In
September/October members can plan on the launch of the new
BookMyne
mobile
apps for the DALNET Union catalog. DALNET plans to implement
iPhone
and Droid versions of the BookMyne app. A Training Demo for
BookMyne
will be available on September 19.
Bibliographic Cleanup and
Authority Control: The DALNET office continues to work on the
Bibliographic and Authority
File clean-up project. Members may now edit any bib record
numbered 1 through 800,000.
