Upgrade Update for Horizon System
The
DALNET office intends to install the test Horizon upgrade this month
and the test HIP upgrade in May. It is anticipated that members
will have access to test catalogs in June. Production upgrades
are scheduled for the 4th of July weekend. The Horizon Upgrade project page, including documentation, is now available in:

Authority Project Underway
Backstage
Library Works has been selected for the Authority clean-up
project. The project will include a one-time clean-up of bib and
authority records as well as ongoing authority updates. Testing
is underway for the project. The production load for the clean-up
will span roughly mid-April through mid-May. The DALNET office
will provide updates and work parameters for the project once specific
dates are known. The Authority File project page is now available

ERMes: Open Source Electronic Resource Management
ERMes is a free, open source electronic resource management software
developed by librarians at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Preservation Week: April 24-30, 2011
The American Library Association is celebrating Preservation Week on April 24-30, 2011. ALA organized the first
Preservation Week
in 2010 which was intended to “raise awareness of libraries’ role in
connecting the general public to preservation information and
expertise.” Also, the Library of Congress has created a
YouTube channel
dedicated to digital preservation. If your institution would like
to apply for a DALNET grant pertaining to Preservation Week,
applications for the next round of grants are due April 15. Forms
