St. Clair County Library Joins MiLE
[June 19, 2003]
On Tuesday June 3rd and again on Tuesday June 10th, Anaclare Evans, DALNET Systems
Librarian ventured to the St. Clair County Library
to train their staff in the use of MiLE.
Although St. Clair County Library belongs to The Library Network (TLN),
they use
Horizon as their integrated library system. TLN staff was unfamiliar with the integration
of MiLE and Horizon so DALNET staff was asked to do the training.
On June 3rd, ten staff members were trained at the Clay Library in Algonac. Clay Library
has a lovely training room that allows the instructor to see a glimpse of Lake St. Clair.
The staff was enthusiastic and eager to learn about MiLE. On June 10th, 17 staff
members were trained at the Main Library
in downtown Port Huron. That library has a
very nice training room in their lower level. Staff had a wonderful time practicing
sending and receiving MiLE requests during their training.
St. Clair County went live as soon as the training session ended. At this time staff
members are placing all of the requests for patrons as the interface for patron-initiated
loans has not been completely configured. After that first day, St. Clair County had
already lent one book and placed requests for 12!
DALNET libraries using MiLE are encouraged to go to the MiLE Project WebSite and download a new
copy of the delivery spreadsheet which includes the delivery codes for all of the branches
of the St. Clair County Library.
