Oakland County Law Library Expanding Legal Clinic Program
[October, 2006]
Lakeshore Legal Aid and Thomas Cooley Law School are partnering to provide family law legal aid clinics to low income individuals at Oakland County Law Library. These clinics will begin October 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continue every other Wednesday throughout the fall and winter.
The clinics will focus on family law issues only. Attorneys and law students will inform low income individuals about court procedures and forms, advise them of their rights, and in a few cases represent them in court. Check the Law Library’s website www.oakgov.com/lawlib for specific dates and more information, or call (248) 858-0012.
For issues other than family law, the Mobile Law Office from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law continues to visit on opposite Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those dates and more information are also available on the Law Library’s website. The Law Library is located on the second floor of the West Wing Extension of the Oakland County Circuit Court building at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac.
Support for these programs is provided through the generosity of the Oakland County Bar Association and Foundation, the Michigan Bar Foundation, the law schools and Lakeshore Legal Aid.
