HORIZON 7.03 UPDATE STATUS

[July 3, 2002]
The DALNET Office staff is pleased to report that all of the DALNET Horizon Test databases have been upgraded to release 7.03. The Horizon client for 7.02/03 and installation instructions for the client have been distributed to all members and must be used to test the upgrade.

Testing scripts were distributed electronically and are also available on the DALNET website. These scripts prompt you to test all of the normal functions and the new features of this release. As you complete your testing, please let us know if you are ready to schedule the upgrade of your DALNET Horizon Production database. Initial reports indicate that the biggest issue with this release is sufficient memory in the workstation to run several modules of Horizon as well as other applications of the users' choice. epixtech has given us instructions to increase the amount of the shared memory that can be devoted to Horizon. These instructions will be posted on the DALNET website later this week. In addition, new instructions for running dbdebug (a program to help with troubleshooting) will also be posted.

Please let the DALNET office staff know if you encounter any problems as you do your testing. We would like to be able to resolve them before you go live rather than after. To date we have heard from OCLL, Botsford, VA and WSU libraries. If anyone else has results to share, please post them to DHMT.

Following the upgrade to Horizon 7.02/03, work will begin on iPAC.
