Arab American Community Resources Directory Launched
[Winter 2007]
The newest DALNET member Arab American National Museum has created a new DALNET Digital Project, the Arab American Community Resources Directory.
The Community Resources Directory is a collection of annotated listings and provides Internet links and other directory information about national, regional, and local Arab American resources. The Directory is a collection of MARC records, and is searchable using the Arab American National Museum's library catalog as a search engine for Arab American resources.
Working for the museum library, Alma Khasawnih, Research Specialist, has already cataloged hundreds of resources for the directory. Library Director Angelita Espino worked with Khasawnih and DALNET staff members to configure the searching technology and display for the project.
This project is presumed to be the only online directory of its type for Arab American information.
Additionally, Rachael Carew, cataloger at the museum's Library and Research Center, has been working with DALNET to implement the museum library's first ever Online Catalog.
