Detroit Library Anniversary Shared With Community

The Detroit Public Library celebrated 140 years of service to the community with
an "Anniversary Celebration" at Main Library in Midtown Detroit. Hundreds of library
supporters, employees, retirees and civic leaders joined in the celebration.
The library was honored with proclamations and resolutions form the State and City.
The event included presentations, tours of Main Library, and a ‘Birthday Cake’ modeled after the Main Library.
The Detroit Public Library is among the largest public libraries in the nation,
and is the largest library system in the State of Michigan.
The Main Library and its 23 neighborhood branches make it one of the most valuable
and accessible public institutions in the City of Detroit.
